RECAP: Eagles fall short in season home debut against Alberta competition

SURREY — The Surrey Eagles (0-6-0-0) took a brief lead against the Okotoks Oilers (2-2-0-0), who made their first BCHL appearance at South Surrey Arena, with Lucas DiGiantommaso’s fifth goal of this season’s campaign from Gavin Rocha, and Dryden Kuramoto on the power play.

With the game pretty much decided, Rocha scored a shorthanded goal, assisted by Nishaan Parmar, giving Surrey’s special team a bonus for killing off the penalty and getting one back. 5-2 Oilers.

Final shots of the game were 31-26 in favour of the Oilers as Eric Young picked up the win for the visitors and Nathan Claydon picked up the loss for the Eagles. FortisBC Energy Player of the Game was DiGiantommaso, while Rocha picked up the third star for Surrey.
