The Surrey Eagles and the Surrey Hospitals Foundation teamed up on Breast Cancer Awareness night at the nest on Sunday, October 5, to fundraise for the Breast Health Clinic at Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre. According to the Government of Canada, 83% of cases occur in women aged 50+, and screening for breast cancer with mammography is recommended every 2 to 3 years for average-risk women aged 50 to 74. While breast cancer is most often diagnosed in women, men can also develop it as the disease impacts breast tissue, though male breasts are less developed.
